What I want to do... // Decorate!

It's almost time for me to move into my new home, and I am so excited! I am so looking forward to making that little apartment a home for Adam and I. We just miss getting to decorate for Christmas this year, but we are pretty much all set for next year. : ) Grandma and Grandpa gave us their old Christmas tree (so excited!), we have LOTS of ornaments from the wedding to use, and we even have our own, hand-knit stockings (Thanks, Peggy!).

Since the wedding is right after Christmas this year my family is deciding not to celebrate until February, so I have a little extra time to get their gifts ready (maybe this could be an every-year-tradition? lol.) I really want most of the gifts I give to be handmade, so I need to start planning things out NOW! I already have a really great idea for Mom, but I would really like to get a combined gift for my parents... and the boys... who knows what I could make them! Ugh.. it's a good think I have some time to think about these things. : )

On the topic of handmade things... I really want to make a lot of our decorations for next year. I'm thinking a cute Christmas skirt, some wreaths, centerpieces, and some ornaments! Oh, I can't wait for Christmas!!! I wonder, since we are celebrating in February, if Adam wouldn't mind decorating a little early/late this year? Hmm... something to think about it. Who could say no to more Christmas cookies, goodies, and music! : )

Needing some motivation...

I should have tons of motivation  considering the post I have below. lol. 

But... it's kind of chilly this morning and for some reason I'm just not feeling in the "cleaning" mood. Especially since my laundry pile is ginormous!!!!!

So, I'm on the search for creative/beautiful pictures to get my creative juices flowing.

It was a wonderful day. Adam and I are two very loved people.

Wedding Update... #2

The bridesmaid dresses are purchased! 

Wow.

I can't believe how quickly I (and the girls) fell in love with the dresses. They were just perfect! The girls also look super great in them. Hope and Emily are the only ones who I haven't seen in the dress, but I'm sure they look stunning. : ) 

Another great thing about the dresses was that we were able to get them for only $45!!! The lady at the store was really nice and gave us the online discount at the store. I was so excited about this. 

Oh, we also picked out the shoes. 

They're really high... and sued... and purple.

Wedding Update!

So, I totally think I've found the bridesmaid's dresses... EEK!!! They're pretty much perfect. We are going to go try them on @ 1:00pm today. I really hope the girls like them. : )

*Oh, the dress color is called "blackberry"... doesn't that sound so romantic?

Hmm... what to wear?

I like this time of year so much, partially because of all the cozy things you get to add to your wardrobe. : )

My Bridesmaids...

Gift Time!!!!

I made these super cute gifts for my bridesmaids this past weekend. I attached a little card to each of the jars that said, "Will you be my bridesmaid?"  (All of the cards had owls on them... of course!) There is going to be four bridesmaids in my wedding, so I was able to ask three of them on Sunday... all I have left is one more! Hope she says yes. : )

The girls are going to be wearing dark purple dresses for the wedding. We haven't found the dresses yet, but I'm hoping that we can check that off our list soon. Mom and I did snag their flowers on Friday night and they are gorgeous ($2 a bouquet too!)! They are so perfect... I just can't believe it! I'll be sure to post pics of them soon.

Where to begin?

Well, the wedding plans are coming along quite nicely now. I got my dress (finally!) two weekends ago and I am absolutely in love with it! It's my little girl fantasy in an adult sized dress. What more could I ask for? I can't share pictures of it yet... since my wonderful finacee is a reader of my blog... but just to put you all at ease, I will share LOTS of pictures of me in the dress after the wedding (January 7th, 2011!). It now hangs beside my bed and I sleep peacefully by it every night dreaming of the day that I get to wear it...

It finally feels like fall here in Indiana and I'm loving it... well... mostly. I could do with out the deary skies, but they are a reminder that we are receiving our much needed rain. Cozy sweaters, tall socks, pumpkin spice lattes, and the smell of the changing of the seasons is what I love about this time of year so that is what I'm going to focus on... that, and the huge "To Do-" list that's full of wedding/school/apartment things that needs to be done. Ahh.... to be young and perpetually burning the candle at both ends. : )

Oh, my 21st birthday is coming up too! Mmm... my birthday is right in the middle of the craziness of the holiday season, but I woudln't change it for anything. I think I'm going to ask for a new pair of boots for my birthday... or perhaps a puppy?

No, really. I could totally end my blog post with that statement. My life has been CRAZY!!!

I'm going to school (full credit load... ugh), working 3 days a week, cleaning/decorating our apartment, planning a wedding, and anything else I'm told to do.

No more dates!

No, not ever...

I just stared my first week of classes and I was totally, crazy busy! I don't want to just let this blog go to the back burner, but I realized that I can't keep up with specific blog "dates". So, to cure this problem and keep a good following of readers there will not be any specific dates for my special blog features... as of right now... I still will post my weekly special features just at random. I don't want to be one of those "all promises" blogs, so I have to kind of work within my time constraints.

Yesterday was fabric.

Fabric Time!

It's true. Yesterday I was home by myself and I was feeling like getting crafty with some of my new fabric stash (Trader Baker special!)... so I did. : )

 

I made this cute little owl. I'm pretty proud of myself actually. I also tried to make a handy, little notebook cover too, but that didn't turn out so great. It's functional but sort of on the wacky side. 

Oh, well.

My next one is going to be awesome! : )

My owl still needs to be stitched to the cover, and I plan on doing this by hand with some embroidery thread. I love how you can add so much personality with just some different colored thread! 

So, yesterday's project was pretty fun... and it hurt my back... or maybe it was the intense workout routine that my brother had me do earlier that morning?

 

Anywho,

My owl was inspiring and gave me a great idea for an outfit for the costume party I'm going to tomorrow night. Any guesses on what I'm going to be? I'll share pics tomorrow.

My Favorite Indie Music Artist: A Fine Frenzy

She's cute, quirky, and very talented it's... Alison Studol from A Fine Frenzy! 

 

I absolutely adore all of A Fine Frenzy's music. They have a folksy/quirky sound that is super catchy and I find myself singing along to all the songs... even if I don't really know them. : ) I love her lyrics and mad piano skills. This artist is definitely one you can chill out to or jam to. These songs really help get me inspired.

She also makes me really want to dye my hair red...

Welcome to: Smitten with a Smidge!

I am so excited to get to finally share my new blog! I really feel like this blog is a good combination of everything I personally love in a blog.... visual inspiration, creativity, links to other fun blogs, & lots of new things to try! There are going to be daily inspirational posts that have creative pictures, songs, or videos that I find inspiring (and hopefully you do too!). Along with the daily inspiration there will also be special weekly features (introduced below...) that touch on a little bit of everything. : ) I will also be writing about what's going on creatively in my life and will be sharing personal goals/ideas....
